WATER, WATER
BY ALOYSIUS FINK
Water, water everywhere,
yet none of it to drink.
Your sperm is in the gutter,
your love is in the sink.
I see the world everywhere
and love is all around
but when I look into my self
it's hardly to be found.
My fickle heart, my dirty mind,
they constantly compete.
And when the battle's over
they're lying at my feet
Confused, but unrelenting
I once more look around
But naught has changed, and love remains
sought but not yet found
Now when I speak of love, you see
it's the romantic kind
A deep and understanding love,
the core and not the rind
For love, you know, is everywhere
in every face I see
I care for patient, family, friend,
but who will care for me?
Water, water everywhere
yet none of it to drink.
And, if I don't start bailing soon,
I fear that I may sink.
